( ORIGINAL THREAD ) --- [ Don't be rude to Fugo?! Fugo may not be his friend but they're on friendly terms...!
And he's sorry for rocking your world, Atsushi but it seemed pretty obvious to him. Given all of the "mystery" about this place patterns stuck out like a sore thumb to him. ]
There are many reasons why someone might do something like this and it's impossible for me to say given how little I know about what is happening here.
[ Because even though he could come up with theories and so on and so forth, it shouldn't be said unless he was certain of it. Just because it seemed like a great way to hide the truth doesn't mean that was the case. Perhaps there was an honest reason for such a formula. ]
For someone who casually tried to rob him and walk away, Giorno is... very observant? Very measured. Atsushi isn't sure if this guy is a genius or kind of has a screw loose, but he's not one to talk, huh.
He pushes through the jungle, on the watch for anything that could jump out at them and maul them in their general vicinity. ]
They seem pretty devious... I was told not to trust them by another third party that wasn't one of us, but they were also pretty unreliable-looking people too.
[ Who can they even trust anymore, this is the real question. ]
I really wonder... why save us if they're going to be so cruel to us?
[ He'll follow Atsushi quietly while also keeping an eye out for anything. Nothing so far, but it didn't mean that this peace and quiet was going to last much longer. As for the matter of Atsushi's "question"&mdash ]
It's like because it's profitable for them to do so. [ Giorno answers it simply enough. He vaguely recalls about hearing how ViViDs can be used to earn money as well but it seems like chump change compared to other methods of work (or hustling) around Cerealia. ]
I don't mean in the monetary way but there is something that they gain from putting us through these "games". If this was truly a strain on their resources then there would be no point to them.
[ He knows that that explanation is the most likely one, but still... there's something so disconcerting in knowing that they're being kept alive for some nefarious reason that they're not privy to.
"For profit" is also something that rings badly, so Atsushi shakes his head, as if he wants to ward those thoughts away. ]
If so... that's not something we should forgive. We're not property... it's not right, for them to treat us that way.
I don't know if anyone's gotten any closer to the truth, but... I hope we do. And I hope we bring people like that to justice.
[ Disconcerting as it was, Giorno isn't going to act like any of it surprises him, after all he did say it. Not to mention, it was pretty obvious and explains things the best. Though Atsushi's sentiments about others working to uncover the secrets about this place were really what they should focus on and take away from all of this. ]
Whatever there is to learn about this place, it won't be easy to uncover. There are sure to be a fair number of false leads.
[ He's not belittling Atsushi but given the population and the magnitude of this "problem", he doubts it'd be anything he has dealt with previously. ]
But I, too, hope that whatever the truth is that we can uncover it and those who are truly responsible for everything are dealt with properly.
[ Careful, Giorno— Atsushi might be able to hear the Araki bold in that last sentiment!?
But it's true: as much as everyone's been scrambling for some sort of ideas about what to do, Atsushi doesn't know if they're any closer to a universal truth than they were months ago. It's humbling, to say the least.
Positive thinking is relatively key, though, so he tries to keep that in mind as he pushes a branch out of the way for Giorno to duck under. ]
Hearing that is heartening enough. Thank you, Giorno-san.
[ He assumes that Giorno is?? Older than him, possibly...? He can't tell, okay. ]
Oh, and...! I've heard that our worlds definitely aren't really destroyed, so— please don't worry about that, I think.
[ With Atsushi pushing the branch out of the way, he'll easily duck under it and keep walking forward. Araki bold or not, he means what he says. Especially when Atsushi gives him the next bit of news.
Of course, Giorno will be polite not and question the uncertainty in Atsushi's language and instead will just ask for clarity. If their worlds are not really destroyed then that's good news. Relative good news given what Giorno knows about what happens to a few of his friends. (""friends"") ]
What do you mean by that? About what you said our worlds not being really destroyed.
[ If this is another lie, he's going to need a book to write down the number of times he has been lied to. Also this place is not earning themselves any sort of brownie points for themselves. ]
( ORIGINAL THREAD ) --- [ There's something emasculating about this in honesty but Giorno's not gonna point that out. ]
Would you want to proceed together?
[ Honestly Giorno's curious to see what he's capable of. He's a small framed man but he seems as though he has a lot of confidence in his own abilities. Harden...like a soldier? ]
I won't be needing weapons. [ So, in some ways, yes? In other ways, no, he's totally confident in his supernatural abilities that very few others can probably see. Though that might have to wait given the fact that there are people Out To Get Them lurching nearby. ]
Shall we go? It seems as though if we wait any longer, we may have quite the number of people after us.
You sound pretty confident. You have powers or something?
[ he knows a lot of people in the colony can do fancy magic shit. rather than waiting for an answer, though, he starts to move forward, assuming Giorno will follow. indeed, it's past time to get the fuck out of here. ]
[ he doesn't exactly know where he's going, either, but there's gotta be an exit in this ballroom somewhere and he's leading them to where he guesses it might be. he glances over his shoulder briefly at Giorno when he confirms that he's got powers. ]
( ORIGINAL THREAD ) --- [ Giogio might not be a certain someone but he will still pardon your sins, Fugo. Believe in your boss. ]
We can't just avoid this, Fugo. If there's something we can learn, it might come from these things. [ Giorno had come to dislike ViViDs very quickly but at the same time he also knew that there would come a time where they would need to utilize ViViDs for something. He didn't know what, but he just knew that eventually they would shed some sort of light on the situation.
Perhaps the ViViDs were clues themselves somehow. What did Giorno know? What did anyone know about these ViViDs other than what was given to them at face value? Everything should be looked at. There was no real sense of urgency given that, well, it wasn’t as if things were going to get worse back for the others if they got their feet caught up in the carpeting. He wanted to go about fixing everything—fixing everything meant that he would have to face up to the fact that his friends were going to die.
There had to be some sort of middle ground. ]
However, it doesn’t have to be soon.
[ And like that, Giorno stumbles upon something that looks like it came right out of a video game—a digital platform that juxtaposed against the “iconic school scenery”. If there was anything that might have screamed “EXIT”, it was definitely this. ]
[Giorno's doing that thing again, that thing where he somehow manages to make this awful situation seem so much more... bearable. It didn't fix anything—logically, he knew that—but even then, even if it was only a little, he somehow felt a little more at ease.
This strange platform kind of helps to balance that feeling out, though. (Because god forbid he ever feel too comfortable in any given situation.) This was the only thing that really stood out here, so...]
This must be it. [...part of him wonders if this is really going to lead them out of the game. He knows he shouldn't think like that... Nor should he really think about how dangerous it could be. It couldn't be a trap, right? It'd probably be more obvious if it was, but...] I'll go first.
[He was nervous about it, definitely, but this was the right way to go about it. He was sure of that much.]
[ Seeing Fugo step up for something like this given the uncertainty of the situation was pretty profound and startling in its own way. Giorno was ready to take the first step forward when Fugo had spoken up. So he'll step aside and allow Fugo to do something that he hadn't thought he would do. He was always more cautious about things like this, right?
It was obvious that things changed between the Fugo that stood next to him and the Fugo that he knew (and just how much of that Fugo did he really understand), but the matter would soon become just what all was different. This was definitely a matter they needed to discuss as soon as they got out of here. ]
Then I'll see you on the other side. I'll be right behind you as soon as you get out of this place.
[ With that, he'll take a step back and see what happens next. For all its worth, if it was a trap, Giorno was ready to take full responsibility for what happens next. ]
[Fugo hesitates for a moment. He wants to say something like, "If you notice anything strange, just get out of here." or "Don't worry about me." but he's already nervous enough as it is, without having to worry about all of the ways this could possibly go wrong. He just has to... do it.
So rather than say anything like that, he just nods.]
Right.
[He takes a deep breath, and steps forward, onto this strange platform. Please don't screw him, Cerealia, he has suffered enough—
Fortunately, while the place he ends up in is still foreign, it's at least where he's supposed to be—one of the crowded ViViD centers, filled both with people who look like they've been here a hundred times and those who are just as unsure as he is. So far, so good... Maybe.]
[ And true to his word to Fugo, Giorno isn't too far behind him. As soon as he saw that nothing was amidst and everything worked well, Giorno wasted no time and stepped onto the panel and was logged off himself. Maybe very small part of him hoped and wished for this to be an elaborate Stand attack that they could solve but...
That was really nullified over again over again.
Well, but at least they were freed from that awful game and hopefully didn't have to go into another one of those any time in the reasonably near future. Not unless it promised something other than credits. It's not too hard to spot Fugo in a crowd so Giorno makes his way over towards his friend(?). ]
Looks like that was the way out after all.
[ A bit stating the obvious but...it was nice. Especially since there was no one coming to shepard them anywhere else and that they were finally able to explore things for themselves in the "real" world. ]
[When Fugo hears his voice, he immediately turns to him and shakes his head.]
Not really. You?
[Of course, even though he asks, Giorno definitely looks fine, so between that and apparently (finally) making it out of that stupid game, Fugo feels somewhat relieved. Of course, the question now is what do they do next, but... He really should try not to get ahead of himself—especially when he'd somehow come to trust Giorno's judgement a whole lot more than his own. One thing at a time.]
[ So they both had all of their fingers and toes as well as their own perceptions of normal restored to them. Giorno kind of wants to learn more about the ViViDs right not given how he was right here but later. There would be time later to look into them. ]
There's a lot we need to figure out. [ Because that was obviously the next part to tackle: what was going to happen next. Where did they go from here? Hold a proper conversation without being in some stupid game having to worry about themselves being hurt by some stupid monster. However given how "long" it's been— ]
[He has to think about it for a second. Compared to other things he's been through lately, that really wasn't that bad—it was tedious more than anything else. This was still a lot to take in, though, in more ways than one, and they had been stuck there for a while, so...]
Let's go somewhere quieter.
[That was all he needed, really. Just something away from all this noise so he could try to wrap his mind around this mess. (And considering they didn't really know anything about this place, keeping it simple was probably best.)]
